Bad Data Equals Bad Attitude - S&P/Case-Shiller Misuse Trashes Consumer Confidence

None of the three major home price indexes are completely accurate or comprehensive.  Some ignore condos and townhouses.  Some ignore new homes.  Some measure hundreds of cities.  Some measure a handful.  Some ignore jumbo loans over $417,000.  That’s a big loan in most of the country, but not in states like California, where sums greater than that tend to reflect average home prices.
